Sound Advisory consults + curates
arts + productions for the modern world.
Founded by artist, writer and curator Simon Coates, Sound Advisory is the leftfield antidote to quotidian sound and music. Coates worked in the UK music business for over twenty years: starting out on the record shop floor, he has been a buyer, worked on websites for some of the biggest names in music and written about music for the likes of the BBC. He is behind acclaimed arts collective Tse Tse Fly Middle East, and has produced radio programmes for UK arts station Resonance EXTRA, Moscow-based New New World Radio and Frequency Asia in Singapore. In 2014 he curated the United Arab Emirates' first ever sound art exhibition, and in 2017 he curated three online exhibitions in association with UK charity Sound and Music for Google Arts and Culture. His time running Dubai's DUCTAC arts centre saw him establish a profitable mixed used venue. He has been chosen by Sonos as one of the UK's key change-makers and has guest-edited the UK Arts Council-backed new music site The Sampler. Coates has composed, produced and consulted on music and events solutions for Glenfiddich, Bang and Olufsen and more.
